extensions— home care

brushing

  • use a boar bristle or wet brush daily to remove any knots or tangles

  • gather hair into a pony tail and securely hold close to the scalp- begin brushing from the ends, carefully brushing your way up

  • brushing your hair before it gets wet will help keep the hair from tangling while washing

  • always brush hair and tie into a loose braid before sleeping

washing

  • brush hair thoroughly before washing to remove any tangles

  • now that your hair is thicker, you may decide to divide your hair into two sections on either side of the head to wash

  • you must use a sulfate and paraben free shampoo and conditioner

  • begin at the scalp and massage shampoo into hair using a “z” formation- do not use a circular motion or flip hair upside-down as this causes tangles

  • part hair and rinse all the way to the scalp

  • only apply conditioner from the mid shaft down to the ends of your hair and leave on for 2-3 minutes- applying conditioner at or near the point of attachment may lead to your extensions sliding out

  • be sure to always rinse completely

  • please do not sleep with wet hair as it can cause tangling close to the scalp, if this happens please reach out to make an appointment immediately

Drying

  • towel or air dry your hair as much as possible before using a blowdryer

  • always use a leave-in conditioner, heat protectant, or oils on mid-shaft to the ends to protect your extensions

  • using a blow-dryer - rough dry the hair

  • start at the ends and work your way up to the scalp using a round brush

  • be sure to dry the point of attachment thoroughly
